SKILL BUILDER
Sequencing:

Arrange the following listnof solutions in order from most basic to most acidic.

Tomato juice,pH5.                   Milk of magnesia, pH 10.5

Baking soda, pH9                     Seawater, pH8

                                                    Drain cleaner, pH 13
Lemon juice, pH2

The pH scale range is from 0-14 , pH0 is highly acidic and pH14 is extremely basic
Basic:

Drain cleaner, pH13-really basic
Milk of magnesia, pH10.5-basic
Baking soda, pH9-basic
Seawater, pH8-basic
 Highly:
Lemon juice, pH2-really acidic
Tomato juice, pH5-acidic

pH:

1. What is pH?
pH is a measure of how acidic or basic the solution is.

2. What are pH values?
The pH count with a scale of 0-14. Many acidic solutions have lower pH values, and a solition with pH -0 is highly acidic and with pH -7 is neutral, pH -14 is extremely basic.

Do this values depend on something? Explain your answer.
It depends on the scale rage in  the pH scale is from 0-14 where pH-0 is highly acidic and 14 is extremely basic.

3.check chart 3.2 about acids and bases. What can you explain about?
Acids are substance that contain hydrogen and produce hydronium ions when they dissolve in water.
The hydronium are positively charged.

Some acids acids can burn and damage the body tissue if we don't use it correctly.

4.what is neutralization? Is a chemical reaction  in which strong acid and stong base react  with each other to form water and salt.
Example:
When you have an acidic stomach due to eating too much spicy food, can be reliieved by taking an antacid. The antacid is basic and help neutralize the stomach's acidic environment.

Separating and Controlling:
4.

Scientists pay close attention to controls, dependents variables, and independent variable when they design experiments:

A dependent variable:(Depends in another factor) is a variable being tested and measured in a scientific experiment. It is sometimes called the responding variable.

The dependent variable depends on the independent variable. As the experimenter changes the independent variable the change in the dependent variable is observed and recorded.

A independent variables are variables that the experimenter changes to test their dependent variables.
A change in the independent variable directly causes a change in the dependent variable. The effect on the dependent variable is measured and recorded.

Comparing and contrasting:
Page 74

Compare and contrast the following types of solutions:
the active material in a helium-neon laser (glows like a neon light),bronze (copper-tin), cloudy ice cubes, and ginger ale.

Helium-neon laser:
Helium neon laser is a type of gas laser in which a mixture of helium and neon gas is used as a gain medium. Helium gas is also known as He-Ne laser.(is a gas-gas)

Bronze:Metal alloy (solid-solid)

Cloudy ice cube:(solid-gas)

Ginger ale: a kind of soda (liquid gas gas inside can)

Contrast:
Three of those solutions contain gas, and the only one that doesn't contain gas is the bronze.

Comparing and Contrasting:

Modern scientists use advance technology as cellular phones were they can communicate
With each other in remote places if the world, or maybe the comumicate it in popular medias as, news, newspaper, blogs, Or magazines.

The 1800s scientists may did especial conferences for scientists to give their result. Or maybe some scientists in that time would preferred to had the information for themselves.n

Energy

ENERGY:
Energy is denifes as the ability to do work.
 Energy come in numerous forms.

Mechanical energy: Mecanical energy that result from movement or the location of an object.
Mechanical energy is the sum of kinetic energy and potential energy.
Example: the movement of a car has kinetic energy.

Gravitational energy: energy associated with gravity involves the attraction between two objects
Based on their mass.

Kinetic energy: is the energy of motion of a body.
Potencial energy:energy of an object's  position.

Solar energy: is the energy that give us light and energy to do work, it works as a vitamin.
